Frequently cited by journalists, public officials and researchers, the independent Quinnipiac University Poll regularly surveys residents nationwide and polls in more than a dozen states about political races, state and national elections, and issues of public concern, such as schools, taxes, transportation, municipal services and the environment.

In 2013, the Quinnipiac University Poll's result on universal background checks for gun purchases was used by President Obama in his State of the Union speech. A few years later, in 2015, the Library of Congress selected the Quinnipiac University Poll website for inclusion in its historic collection of Internet materials related to public policy topics.

Among other high quality polls, the Quinnipiac University Poll has been used to determine which presidential candidates made the Republican and Democratic primary debate stages in the 2016 and 2020 election cycles. The Poll is also ranked in the top 10% of the most accurate election polls by 538, a well-known polling and statistical analysis blog created by Nate Silver.

The Asbury Park Press wrote, "The Quinnipiac University Poll is considered the gold standard in the business, frequently lauded by USA Today and other national media organizations for its information and accuracy."

For a typical public opinion survey, a randomly selected sample of about 1,000 registered voters age 18 and over is interviewed over five or six days. The polls are conducted at the Polling Institute on West Woods Road, close to the Mount Carmel and York Hill Campuses.

The Quinnipiac University Poll can be contacted at 203-582-5201 or by email.
